Missouri marijuana sales exceed $1.5 billion in 2025 with strong December
2025 set a new record for annual marijuana sales at retail in Missouri
Missouri marijuana sales finished 2025 on a strong note in December, capping another record-setting year for the state’s legal market.
Licensed marijuana retailers reported $132.59 million in total sales in December, up from $124.77 million in November and marking the second-highest monthly total of the year.
Adult use sales accounted for $117.91 million, while medical marijuana sales totaled $14.68 million.
On a daily basis, Missouri marijuana sales averaged approximately $4.28 million per day in December. Adult use purchases averaged about $3.80 million per day, while medical sales averaged roughly $474,000 per day.
For the full year, Missouri marijuana sales reached $1.52 billion in 2025, including $1.34 billion in adult use sales and $173.69 million in medical marijuana sales. The annual total represents Missouri’s strongest year since legal marijuana sales began.
Adult use purchases continued to dominate the market, accounting for roughly 88.6 percent of total marijuana sales in 2025. Medical sales remained comparatively stable throughout the year, reflecting the ongoing transition of many registered patients into the adult use market.
December also marked Missouri’s strongest year-end close to date. By comparison, December 2024 sales totaled $130.89 million, 2025 continued the state’s pattern of year-over-year growth in nearly every month of the calendar year.
Across the full calendar year, Missouri marijuana sales rose steadily from 2023 through 2025. Total sales in 2023 reached $1.34 billion, followed by $1.46 billion in 2024, and $1.52 billion in 2025. While annual growth narrowed compared to the market’s early adult use years, Missouri has now posted three consecutive years of record totals.
Monthly performance in 2025 remained notably consistent. Each month, save February and September, exceeded $120 million in total sales, with eight months topping $125 million. Even during seasonal slowdowns, monthly totals remained well above levels recorded in comparable periods in 2023 and early 2024.
On a cumulative basis, Missouri’s marijuana industry has now generated approximately $4.92 billion in total sales since legal sales began in October 2020.
While the Missouri market evolves with acquisitions and mergers, changes in branding and partnerships, and even the inevitable closure of some businesses, 2026 is poised for a revitalization of independent growth with the burgeoning micro business market.
