Lesley Turek appointed as Chief Equity Officer at DCR

 

The Division of Cannabis Regulation (DCR) proudly announces Lesley Turek as its new Chief Equity Officer, effective immediately. Turek, previously serving as a team supervisor at the Bureau of Business Licensing Services within the DCR since August 2023, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her new role.

Before joining DCR, Turek held prominent positions at the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, including Director of Student Support Services and Federal Programs supervisor. Her career spans nearly 15 years as a middle school educator, where she developed a deep-rooted passion for supporting disadvantaged communities.

Turek’s expertise in education and federal grant management has equipped her with invaluable skills to champion equity initiatives within DCR. Her tenure at the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education involved overseeing compliance of federal grant programs and advocating for diverse student populations, including English language learners, migrant families, and foster care youth.

At DCR, Turek has been instrumental in the review of microbusiness applications, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and contributing to procedural development for internal reviews. Her educational background includes a B.A. in Communications with a Minor in Journalism from Missouri Western State University, and a B.A.+ in Middle Childhood Education from Notre Dame College.

Lesley Turek’s multifaceted expertise in microbusiness operations, public relations, and educational advocacy positions her as a key asset in advancing DCR’s mission of equity and inclusivity in Missouri’s cannabis industry.
