Hi-Night & Highlights: Cannabis infusions shine at WFC Show Me Series Chef Battle
Old Hickory Golf Club hosted a World Food Championships qualifier chef battle and the results were delicious.
Four chefs met in the main ballroom of OHGC and in just 60 minutes, crafted their best dish for 3 chef judges. The stakes: a Golden Ticket to compete at the World Food Championships in Dallas this November in pursuit of a grand prize of $150,000.
Dubbed Titan of the Toque and hosted by WFC state partners, the Show Me Series, at the home of the 2021 World Baking Champion Chef Jack Mac, this epic culinary throwdown featured two chefs from Columbia. Kymberlee Matney teaches startups how to start fast and stay profitable, and Kia Powell, who is a Fixer for a major corporate restaurant group. The other two chefs hailed from St. Louis, Chef Tony Haake, Executive Chef of the brilliant Messianic bistro, Rosé by Peno, and the god of the Hi-Pointe Drive-In, Chef Adam Pritchett.
Before every major match comes a pregame for guests to sip and nosh.
Titan of the Toque featured the bacon dish that made OHGC Exec Chef Jack Mac the 2021 World Baking Champion, a superb spirits offering from Hard Truth, three spectacular wines from the noted organic vintner from Oregon, Lujon Wine Cellars, courtesy of Grey Eagle, and the freshest salsa in all the land from A Taste of Jacks.
But the longest line of the night was for two products making their debut with the Show Me Series, a condiment and a seltzer, products that rarely enjoy the spotlight.
Unless of course, they happen to be infused with THC.
From High Fidelity Brands and created by Adam Pritchett, the French-Hi fry sauce stole the night. Inspired by the classic Belgian andalouse sauce and perfect for just about anything that needs a kick, the sauce is infused with THC. Distributed by Good & Hi Edible Cannabis and available at Kind Goods dispensaries, French-Hi Sauce is a must-have for the hi-life.
And to cap the infused experience, guests were invited to enjoy Wynk infused-seltzers to wash it all down. Wynk is a perfect one-to-one blend of CBD and THC.
“Our team here at Good Taste couldn’t be prouder of Chef Adam Pritchett and his extraordinary efforts at the World Food Championship qualifier. His culinary finesse and innovative approach perfectly align with Good Taste’s values, making our partnership a natural fit. We are thrilled to continue to support Chef Pritchett on this remarkable journey and look forward to our continued partnership. Good Taste’s Good&Hi cannabis-infused dipping sauce, co-crafted with Chef Adam Pritchett represents the beginning of our culinary journey together, and we are eagerly anticipating the development and launch of future products that will undoubtedly redefine cannabis-infused culinary experiences,” said Sam Thomas, President of High Fidelity Brands.
Judging the chef creations were Chef Jack Mac, yacht chef; noted chef of Allen Event Group and IG’s @TheChefsView, Paul Allen; and the red hot Chef JR, owner of the Vanguard rated Test Kitchen.
The night would end with Tony Haake delivering a breathtaking seafood dish that won top scores from all judges.
He will be one of Missouri’s top culinary talents representing the Show Me State on the world stage in this, his first year competing in the World Food Championships. Follow his progress in November at WorldFoodChampionships.com.
The Show Me Series will return in Waynesville at the Route 66: Hogs & Frogs Fest September 23rd, the KC Burger Bash September 26th, the Berra Park Open at the Italian Heritage Parade and Festa October 8, and the Live Fire Farm Spirit October 15th.
While the festivities celebrated culinary excellence and creativity, the star of the night was the infusion of cannabis into Missouri’s culinary culture.
Chef Pritchett has been an avid supporter of cannabis and the recent launch of the partnership between Good Taste Edibles and Hi-Pointe Drive-In, Good & Hi, has brought an original and elevated taste experience to a crowded edibles space.
