Missouri cannabis regulators issue a recall for marijuana products tested by ClearWater Science

The Missouri Division of Cannabis Regulation (DCR) has announced a significant recall today, an extension of the hold placed earlier this week.

Affecting approximately 24,000 cannabis products across multiple facilities and brands statewide, this recall stems from non-compliant testing conducted by ClearWater Science, LLC (TES000007), a licensed testing facility in Missouri.

According to DCR’s official notice, the recalled products were not subjected to the mandatory testing required under Missouri law, specifically 19 CSR 100-1. As a result, DCR cannot verify whether these products meet the state’s health and safety standards. The recall impacts a wide range of products, including flower, prerolls, edibles, and extracts, distributed by several different cannabis brands.

Businesses statewide have been directed to immediately segregate the affected products and comply with the recall to ensure they are no longer available for sale or transfer.

While DCR has not disclosed specific details about the testing lapses or the investigation that led to the recall, the sheer volume of products—24,000 in total—underscores the scale of the issue.

This is the fifth recall in the last year and the fourth since August of this year.

In each of these situations, DCR has cited safety concerns as the reason for recall, but to date no reports of negative side effects or adverse reactions have been reported.

DCR has provided a Product Recall List for Licensees and a Consumer Recall List on its website, allowing both businesses and consumers to identify the specific products affected by this recall. DCR continues to monitor the situation and may provide further updates as its investigation progresses.

For now, businesses are left to manage the operational fallout, while consumers are advised to check the recall lists and avoid the affected products.

As of yet, DCR has not provided comment on potential penalties or consequences for ClearWater Science, LLC, the testing facility at the heart of the issue, but Greenway has confirmed that the license has been suspended.
