G5 Express approved to operate

The Missouri medical marijuana market has created hundreds of new businesses and opportunities. One of the most vital components of the industry is transportation. Transportation companies are charged with the security, transport, and care of medical products that may be valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars or more. Entrusting product to a transport company involves trust and diligence.

One Missouri company hoping to earn the industry’s trust and business is G5 Express.

Greenway recently spoke to Co-Founder and CEO, Dacia Betts, after G5 received commencement from the state.

Betts comes to the medical marijuana industry with a background in finance and workforce development.  “After the 2009 recession, I began a large focus on the development of the 21st-century workforce. I opened a higher education school (Institute of Technology) where we provided technical certifications. I then opened Healthtech Staffing Network where we were able to provide executive sourcing and staffing for our graduates,” Betts explained.

Co-Founder and G5 President Martez Stephenson is a successful entrepreneur in his own right, having worked as a contractor and auto broker, and owning and operating barber salons. Stephenson is also the owner of both Happy Hour Bar and Grill and Toast Time Sports Bar.

For her part, Betts describes her journey saying, “I’ve always had a love for holistic medicine which drew me to the interest of the medical marijuana industry. Now I’ve put a workforce development plan in place for G5 where our focus is training and developing future industry leaders. That’s always my passion behind building a business.”

“We came together as we staffed the security team for (Stephenson’s) bars,” Betts explained. That first business relationship and mutual aspirations helped to create a winning combination.

“G5 is the name of a private jet. When seeking a name for the company we wanted something that represents our vision and focus, which is ‘the sky isn’t even our limit.”  It doesn’t hurt to work with people you enjoy being around and Betts speaks highly of her partner, “Martez is a man with the heart of hearts.”

It’s the spirit and vision of leadership that sets the path for G5 Express. Betts says G5 will offer high-quality, secure transport of medical marijuana and cash-in-transit services, security services, and training.

“We have placed a high value on the security of the business,” Betts explains, “We’ve built our security team with seasoned veterans, ex-law enforcement, and armed security guards. All of our guards have to go through our intensive tactical training program to ensure they are prepared for the tasks at hand.”

Betts says that G5 has also put together a top-notch logistics team to ensure adequate delivery and service for clients. “We want to deliver high-quality service in the most cost-effective way for our clients.”

“Our goal is to build relationships and operate in excellence,” Betts concluded, “My partner and I have excelled in every business, and plan to do the same for G5.”
