KC Cann Transport bringing security experience to industry transportation

Military veteran and former law enforcement officer Kevin Schnell, a longtime security provider, has applied for a transportation license from the state to expand services to the medical marijuana industry.

“I have been providing services for the secure transportation of high-value personnel and high-value assets since long before I began my own security company,” Schnell said. ”My company focuses on providing these services low profile, so as not to draw attention to our clients or their assets. This makes the transition from transporting other high-value assets to the transportation of medical marijuana products easy, as many of the same procedures will be used.”

The emergence of the new medical marijuana industry, ripe with high-value assets, is in need of transportation and protection. Over a dozen entities have applied for licenses to provide transportation in Missouri. There is no license cap on transportation facility licenses.

“When associates from the medical marijuana industry reached out to me wondering if my company was going to get involved, I began to consider the option,” Schnell said. “After researching the medical marijuana industry as outlined for Missouri, I learned about the medical benefits to young children – as well as adults – and the benefits in support of military veterans and PTSD. I also saw an opportunity to get my network of military veterans involved, giving them the opportunity to make a decent salary, remain in the security industry, put down roots and provide a stable environment for their families.”

KC Cann Transport is getting set to provide transportation and site security services for medical marijuana facilities statewide. Licenses have not yet been awarded.

“Our focus is on transportation; however, we do provide site security and training in the categories of theft prevention, protection of a crime scene, emergency response, access control, use of force and other security-related issues,” Schnell said.

Schnell said KC Cann’s background in military and law enforcement is paired with customer service.

“Our clients’ safety and satisfaction are our top priorities,” Schnell said. “We also know how to mitigate a threat, no doubt. We can certainly deter crime; but the objective is to stay so low under the radar that no one knows we are even transporting medical marijuana products; therefore, we are able to get the cargo from Point A to Point B undetected.”

Schnell himself is a military and law enforcement veteran, something that he takes to heart in providing opportunities in the industry for others like him.

“It is of great importance to support our military veterans,” Schnell said. ”Amendment 2 does this, and our company will do this by supporting Amendment 2 and by continuing to employ military veterans for our business, just as we have done in the past. We also support the state of Missouri by purchasing local; meaning whenever possible, we purchase equipment, supplies, and other services from within the state.”
