Greenway had an opportunity to speak to Dan Viets, JD, MCIA Board Chair, about the event. Viets’ said that one of the highlights of the event was compliance expert Megan Wilson speaking to MCIA for the first time, “She was great she’s very smart and very well informed. All of our speakers did a good job of course, but she was the only first time speaker.”
MCIA hosts business seminar in final push before applications
Saturday, Missouri Cannabis Industry Association welcomed hundreds of attendees to Springfield to participate in its final educational seminar before license applications begin being accepted on August 3.
The event, which saw well known industry personalities and prospective applicants Dr. Paul Callicoat and Desmond Morris, compliance expert Megan Wilson, Dr. Lisa Roark, financial expert CPA Paul Bocci discuss industry and regulation with a collective emphasis focused on the growth, obstacles, and the application process to come.
The keynote of the event was delivered by Lyndall Fraker, Missouri Director of Medical Marijuana, who spoke about the industry and it’s quick rise from conception to beginning to accepting applications just one week from the event.
Viets was excited about the event as a whole as well as the future of MCIA events. “This is our fifth conference or seminar that we’ve held and we’ve gotten to the point where we do these very efficiently,” he chuckled. MCIA’s next seminar event will be September 21 in Columbia at the Tiger Hotel, but will most likely have a much more patient focused theme.
MCIA will host their Annual Meeting Saturday, Aug 3 in Columbia. The meeting is open to MCIA members and MCIA will elect its board and leadership at the meeting.
