CannTrust officials knew about illegal grows
Emails show that both the chairman and chief executive of CannTrust Holdings Inc. were aware that the company was growing cannabis in unlicensed rooms for months before regulators discovered them.
Additionally, an article published by the Financial Post on Thursday reports that a promotional video from early 2019 featuring CannTrust chief executive Peter Aceto was shot at the company’s Pelham facility in front of one of the illegal grow rooms.
Toronto-based Globe and Mail reported Tuesday that the emails show Chairman Eric Paul and CEO Peter Aceto, as well as other top executives, conversing openly about the grows and even included Graham Lee, the company’s compliance officer, saying the company had “dodged some bullets, and specifically referenced the grow room in the promotional video after inspections failed to find the hidden plants in November 2018.“[Health Canada] did not ask about RG8E/W, which are unlicensed rooms currently full of plants,” Lee’s email said.
