Missouri marijuana regulators issue third product recall in April

The Missouri Division of Cannabis Regulation has issued its third marijuana product recall this month, announcing Tuesday that products manufactured by Nodaway Holdings LLC under the brand name Plume Buzz Bites are being recalled due to concerns about product design.

According to DCR, the Plume Buzz Bites were recalled because the product design resembles non-marijuana items, which is prohibited under state regulations intended to protect children and prevent accidental consumption. The recall was issued pursuant to 19 CSR 100-1.100(4)(P), which allows the division to take action when a marijuana product may pose a potential threat to health or safety.

“DCR is issuing a marijuana product recall on marijuana products sold to dispensary licensees by manufacturing licensee, Nodaway Holdings LLC, MAN000086. The recalled marijuana product design resembles non-marijuana products. In order to protect children and prohibit inadvertent consumption of marijuana products, Department rules prohibit marijuana products from resembling non-marijuana products.”

While DCR has cited health and safety concerns as the reason for the recall,  the Division confirmed that no adverse reactions have been reported in connection with the recalled Plume Buzz Bites, and the action is precautionary.

This is the second recall in April related to product design concerns. Just ahead of 4/20, marijuana products produced by Pyro were also recalled for resembling non-marijuana products.

Consumers who have unused recalled products may return them to the dispensary where they were purchased. Returned products will not count toward a patient’s purchase limit. For additional return instructions, consumers should contact the dispensary directly.
