February marijuana sales continue to indicate market growth

February’s retail sales figures show positive growth in Missouri’s marijuana market despite weather challenges.

At first glance, February losing more than $6 million (-5.41%) in sales revenue from January doesn’t seem to be a sign of growth, but when digging further down we are able to see significant markers that indicate long term growth and sustainability in the Missouri market.

Missouri has started 2025 with solid performance selling more than $122.88 million in January and  closing the month of February at $116.23 million in total sales. Although February totals represent a 5.41% dip from January’s total, the more important comparison is the  notable year-over-year growth of 6.16% compared to February 2024’s $109.53 million.

Total February 2025 Sales: $116.23 million
Recreational Sales: $102.46 million
Medical Sales: $13.77 million

February saw the first-ever dip back below $14 million in medical marijuana sales, with the segment reaching only $13.77 million. While this decline is significant, a series of weather-related challenges, with multiple days of hazardous conditions affecting some of Missouri’s most active markets, should be taken into consideration. In certain areas, dispensaries were forced to close or adjust operating hours, limiting consumer access and purchases, additionally, many consumers or medical card holders spent significant periods of time isolated to their homes with school and work closures. Despite these disruptions, February’s daily sales average of $4.15 million marks the third-highest daily average in Missouri’s marijuana market history.

Comparatively, January sales totals were higher, but with 31 days in the month and fewer weather related disruptions, January’s $3.96 million per day average makes February numbers that much more impressive.

January 2025 sales rose 11.95% from 2024, with February sales also showing a significant increase over prior year, the numbers indicate a clear growth pattern for 2025.

Through the first two months of 2025, Missouri has surpassed $239.11 million in sales, outpacing the same period in 2024 by more than $15 million. Missouri’s cumulative marijuana sales now total $3.64 billion, further solidifying the state’s position as one of the leading legal cannabis markets in the country.

Looking at daily sales averages rather than month to month peaks we notice a strong upward trend. In 2024, daily sales averages hovered between $3.9 and just over $4 million per day before spiking in November and December at $4.27 and $4.22 million respectively. The year-over-year totals and the significant jump in daily sales averages ($3.54 Jan 2024 to $3.96 Jan 2025; $3.91 Feb 2024 to $4.15 Feb 2025) early on set the stage for a record-setting year ahead in Missouri.
