Darwin Millard to lead CSQ as new Technical Director
Cannabis Safety & Quality Appoints “The Spock of Cannabis” to Expand Certification Program
Entering its fourth year of setting reliable cannabis safety standards, Cannabis Safety & Quality (CSQ) just announced that Darwin Millard, 17-year cannabis industries veteran, extraction expert and policy change-maker is stepping in as Technical Director.
CSQ is the first accredited cannabis certification program to meet ISO Requirements and regulatory requirements from seed to sale. Since it was first created by Forbes 30 Under 30 lister Tyler Williams, the CSQ certification program has helped over 100 cannabis facilities improve the safety & quality of their products, including MSO’s like Curaleaf and Trulieve.
Darwin Millard, colloquially known as “The Spock of Cannabis,” has focused on the extraction and manufacturing of nutraceutical products that contain cannabinoids for nearly two decades, helping companies implement cost-effective, purpose-driven phytocannabinoid processing and herbal product manufacturing solutions.
“Darwin is the link we’ve been missing as we work to create a necessary, harmonized set of safety standards for the cannabis industry. I’m thrilled to welcome someone as impressive as Darwin to the team to create new standards for safeguarding other types of cannabis products, and work hand-in-hand with regulators and organizations like ASTM to bring CSQ to the forefront,” said Tyler Williams, Founder of CSQ & CEO of ASI.
Millard is a devoted member of ASTM International’s Technical Committee D37 on Cannabis, an international group dedicated to the development of voluntary consensus standards for the global cannabis and hemp industry. Darwin is the Subcommittee Vicechair of D37.04 on Cannabis Processing and Handling and the Subcommittee Chair of D37.08 on Personal/Household-use Cannabis Devices and Appliances.
Millard is also a highly sought-after speaker, with several engagements scheduled throughout the year, including a panel at the NOCO Hemp Expo (April 11-13) in Colorado, two pre-conference workshops at the Cannabis Science Conference in May, and at CANN-RA’s External Stakeholder Meeting in June, with more to be announced.
