New national hemp prohibition to be topic of conference session

The Director of Government Relations for the Missouri Hemp Trade AssociationMr. Craig. J Katz, J.D., will be a featured speaker this Saturday, November 22, 2025 when the Fall 2025 Missouri NORML Conference takes place online. The conference begins at 1:00 pm and wraps up at 6:30 pm.

The entire event will be streaming live on the Missouri NORML Facebook page. An outstanding lineup of speakers will be participating in the event including NORML Chapter LeadersAlice O’Leary, the co-founder of the medical marijuana movement; Loren Siegellongtime national ACLU staff person will introduce her film “The Oral History of the Movement to End Marijuana Prohibition.”

 Jon Schmid of the Missouri ACLU will be speaking about enforcing the Missouri Constitution regarding revocation of probation and paroleErica Ziegler, Deputy Director of the Missouri Division of Cannabis Regulation and Tara McKinney, Public Outreach Director of the DCR speaking about micro licensing, reference lab testing and Vitamin E Acetate contamination.

   

Later in the afternoon, Joseph Bondy, J.D., national NORML Board Chair will discuss the amicus brief he will be filing in the United States Supreme Court on behalf of Second Amendment Rights of cannabis consumers; Adam Smith, J.D., the new Executive Director of the Marijuana Policy Project will speak about working to end marijuana prohibition in Congress and in 26 more states.

Moderating the event will be Dan Viets, J.D.one of the authors of Article XIV of the Missouri Constitution which legalized medical marijuana in 2018 and Adult Use of Marijuana in 2022. Dan serves as Missouri NORML Coordinator and Secretary of the national NORML Board of Directors.
