With locations in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Jefferson City, Armstrong Teasdale was chosen by Greenway readers as the best law firm in Missouri’s cannabis industry. Armstrong Teasdale has provided many services and assistance to Missouri’s cannabis community and has successfully established themselves as ones to trust when it comes to cannabis regulations.

Eric Walter is a St. Louis based partner who leads the firm’s Marijuana and Hemp Law practice area. He firmly believes that in order for cannabis businesses to be successful, they must work closely with a lawyer with extensive knowledge in this industry.

Walter told Greenway, “expertise came through in the application process, where applicants who did not work with industry-knowledgeable attorneys often failed to receive a license. The inconsistency between state and federal law also creates a number of unique considerations, including related to private equity issuance, intellectual property protections, and tax law.  A medical marijuana licensee would be ill-served to hire an attorney who has not focused his or her practice on this industry.”

“We are focused on helping our clients build out their facilities, complete a successful commencement inspection, and be among the first to bring this medicine to Missouri patients,” says Walter. “Beyond Missouri, we are pursuing opportunities to assist clients in applying for adult-use business facility licenses in Illinois and other states. And we will continue to monitor the legal landscape in the 17 states that have not yet adopted medical marijuana laws.”

Armstrong Teasdale’s partners assisted many groups with navigating the complicated application process for cannabis licenses in the state, from drafting the applications to the final step of submitting them to the state department.

The firm has also provided guidance on federal law and state banking regulations as they relate to cannabis-related business accounts and ancillary businesses in the cannabis industry.

Armstrong Teasdale LLP was founded in 1901 and is headquartered in the St. Louis area with additional offices in Missouri, Colorado, Nevada, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Litigation is Armstrong Teasdale’s largest practice area. General areas of experience include intellectual property, products liability, construction, health care, and white-collar criminal defense. Intellectual property is a growing practice area for Armstrong Teasdale. With the largest patent practice in St. Louis, the firm has been recognized by Intellectual Property Today as one of the nation’s top patent firms. It is also listed in the Law360 IP 100, the online legal news service’s ranking of U.S. law firms with the largest intellectual property practice groups.
