Missouri wholesale cannabis prices reflect seasonal slowdown and shifting category performance
Missouri’s wholesale cannabis market showed mixed performance in September, with pricing fluctuations across key categories reflecting a combination of seasonal trends and changing consumer demand, according to Apex Trading’s Missouri Wholesale Cannabis Market Snapshot – September 2025.
The report, compiled from verified transactions across Apex Trading’s network of licensed Missouri cannabis businesses, tracks seven major categories: bulk flower, pre-rolls, vape cartridges, distillate, live resin, solventless, and shatter/wax; to analyze market movement and wholesale pricing stability over multiple historical timeframes.
Bulk flower prices fell 6.58% to an average of $1,690 per pound. Apex identified this as a significant downward movement in Missouri’s largest wholesale category, aligning with broader late-summer adjustments as demand softens heading into the fall season.
Pre-rolls continued to show resilience, maintaining steady growth with an average wholesale price of $4.33 per unit, a 5.61% increase month over month. The Apex noted that this segment “continues its steady ascent,” reflecting strong pricing power and sustained consumer interest in convenience-based products.
In the concentrates and extracts category, pricing trends diverged. Vape cartridges rose slightly, up 1.23% to $18.06 per gram, signaling ongoing consumer demand and stable wholesale activity.
However, distillate products experienced notable contraction, dropping 5 % to $19.50 per gram, suggesting tightening margins or reduced purchasing volume in the mid-tier extract segment.
Premium extract categories showed slight subtle shifts in the live resin and solventless categories, those products declined 2.52% to $23.64 per gram. Conversely, shatter and wax jumped 4% to an average of $21.50 per gram, highlighting variable performance within the concentrate market.
Apex Trading’s data model draws on actual transaction records rather than surveys, providing a precise snapshot of real wholesale activity and pricing momentum in the state.
Though dispensary sales in Missouri dipped in September, totaling $118.91 million, the slowdown in retail activity remains consistent with prior post-summer periods and reflects seasonal consumer patterns rather than systemic decline.
Apex’s September data reinforces that Missouri’s cannabis industry is entering a stabilization phase. As wholesale prices fluctuate and operators navigate tighter margins, pre-rolls and concentrates continue to demonstrate pricing strength and adaptability in an increasingly competitive market.
