Missouri Cannabis Bill Tracking
Updated 2/23/2022
Greenway has compiled a list of relevant cannabis legislation to be updated throughout the 2022 legislative session.
To date, five of cannabis-focused legislation have been filed in the Senate. Of those bills, two are reintroductions of bills filed last year by Sen. Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg, and Sen. Barbara Washington, D-Kansas City, respectively.
This year in the House, representatives have filed 20 pieces of cannabis legislation focusing on issues ranging from tax credits for dispensary businesses owned by minorities, women, or service-disabled veterans to a proposal for a constitutional amendment that would legalize adult-use in Missouri.
Representative Bruce DeGroot, R-Ellisville, filed HB 1895, a bill that sets specific language to allow financial institutions to provide financial services to licensed marijuana facilities.
HB1901, filed by Rep. Phil Christofanelli, R-St. Peters, is similar to legislation filed by Sen. Hoskins. HB 1901 authorizes an income tax deduction to offset the loss of federal tax credit for marijuana businesses disallowed under 26 U.S.C. Section 280E.
Rep. Ian Mackey, D-Richmond Heights, proposed HB 1867. The legislation would remove the odor of marijuana from use as probable cause for searches.
