Over 500 applicants complete medical marijuana applications

Friday morning, the Medical Marijuana division of DHSS began accepting patient and caregiver applications.

Just after 8 a.m. the online portal opened, welcoming Missourians to register for the first time.

Applications took roughly 30 minutes to complete, in most instances.

But several doctors and clinicians around the state told Greenway about the flood of calls they received from clients who were experiencing problems with the application, uploads, or the site itself.

   

One physician told us that her clinic spent more time reentering data and assisting clients with applications, at an average of an hour each, than they did with any other facet of business on Friday.

While bumps were expected, industry opinion of the launch has weighed heavily in favor of success on the part of DHSS.

All told, DHSS received and began processing 584 patient applications and one caregiver application on Friday.
