Pressure Co. relaunches: A journey of resilience and renewed vision
Pressure Co. first launched in 2022 with Organic Remedies, making a significant impact in the medical marijuana sector. “We started in the medical game and did some amazing things,” Yusuf recalled. “We had an amazing response from the cannabis community and consumers alike.
Lessons learned from early partnerships
The founders acknowledged the support they received from Organic Remedies during their initial launch. “Those guys really took a chance on two guys from St. Louis,” Yusuf said. “They believed in who we were and what our mission was, and for that, we’ll forever be thankful. Without them, we wouldn’t be in the position we are today.”
Moorehead added, “We learned a lot about production and the importance of having our own genetics. Initially, we used what was available, but the need of new genetics in the marketplace is what we felt would help us stand out from other brands”
Commitment to community
A cornerstone of Pressure Co.’s mission is its commitment to community upliftment through its non-profit arm, Exit Now. “Our partnership with SLU is long standing one , and they are very supportive of what we’re doing,” Yusuf noted. The relaunch will also see the continuation of their scholarship program, providing educational opportunities to those in underserved communities.
“The synergy between our for-profit and non-profit efforts is crucial,” Moorehead emphasized. “We aim to provide opportunities for individuals to go to school, get educated, and find their place in the cannabis industry.”
Exit Now is still intact despite the adversity that paused operations with Pressure Co , but the relaunch promises a renewed focus on these initiatives and exciting news in the coming months. “Once we get back on the shelves, we’re going to announce another run of scholarships with strategic partnerships and community events,” Yusuf said. “We want to support individuals who don’t have opportunities, giving them a chance to go to school and get an education in the cannabis marketplace.”
The relaunch event
To celebrate the relaunch, Pressure Co. is hosting an immersive five-course infused dinner series on August 17 at the historic Post Building in St. Louis. “We’re teaming up with Chef Juwan Rice from Rated Test Kitchen and hosting an after-party at Ballpark Village,” Yusuf announced. The event is set to reintroduce the brand to the market and showcase its new direction.
“The event will feature five courses, all infused and non-infused alike, along with mocktails and infused cocktails,” Yusuf said. “It’s going to be a celebration of our new vision and our return to the industry.”
Moorehead added, “We’ve updated our packaging and are moving to newer hardware with some NFC technology. We’ll also be switching up our genetics to bring new strains to our consumers.”
Continuing to grow
As Pressure Co. moves forward, its founders are focused on maintaining relationships and building new partnerships. “Stay relevant in the industry, introduce yourself, and build relationships with decision-makers,” Moorehead advised aspiring entrepreneurs. “It’s about finding people who share your vision and purpose.”
The journey of Pressure Co. is a testament to resilience and the power of community-focused entrepreneurship. As they prepare for their relaunch, Moorehead and Yusuf remain committed to their mission of creating a premium cannabis brand that gives back to the community.
“We aim to bring about the change we want to see through the sale of Pressure Co. products and our scholarship program and through community engagements,” Yusuf said. “We’re not just about the bottom line; we’re about making a difference.”
Advice for aspiring entrepreneurs
Moorehead and Yusuf shared valuable advice for aspiring minority entrepreneurs looking to enter the cannabis industry. “Put your head down and get to it,” Moorehead said. “Find the right partner and create a brand with a purpose. Funding is key, so make sure you have a solid financial plan.”
Yusuf added, “This shit is not for the weak. Believe in what you’re doing and be passionate about it. Maintain relationships and stay the course, even when things get tough.”
Building and maintaining relationships
The founders emphasized the importance of building and maintaining relationships in the industry. “Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself and talk to people who are making decisions,” Moorehead advised. “Stay relevant and attend industry events.”
Yusuf echoed this sentiment: “Relationships are everything. Be kind and understand that today’s ‘no’ might be tomorrow’s ‘yes.’ Just keep climbing and stay focused on your goals.”
Challenges and triumphs
Reflecting on their journey, Yusuf shared, “These last eight months have taught the team a lot. We faced many challenges, but we stayed together and kept pushing forward. We believed in our mission, and that’s what kept us going.”
Moorehead highlighted the pride they feel in their resilience: “We’ve been through so many ups and downs, but we stuck to it. We’ve built a small, dedicated team and kept up with the big dogs in the market. That’s what I’m most proud of.”
