Missouri marijuana sales declined year over year for the first time in November
Missouri marijuana sales declined year over year for the first time in 2025 in November.
A rare month in an otherwise strong 2025.
Licensed marijuana retailers reported $124.77 million in combined medical and adult-use sales in November 2025, down $3.30 million, or approximately 2.6% compared to $128.07 million in November 2024.
Adult-use sales totaled $111.00 million for the month, while medical marijuana sales reached $13.77 million.
Both adult-use and medical marijuana sales declined compared to November 2024.
Adult-use sales fell by $2.03 million, down from $113.03 million last November, while medical marijuana sales declined by $1.27 million, down from $15.04 million a year earlier.
The November comparison shows a modest softening across both segments, interrupting a year in which Missouri consistently outperformed its prior-year monthly totals.
But don’t worry, 2024 was an uncharacteristically successful month – with sales jumping significantly over October, which deviates heavily from a historic pattern.
November’s total translated to an average of $4.16 million per day in combined marijuana sales.
Adult-use daily sales averaged approximately $3.70 million per day, while medical marijuana sales averaged approximately $459,000 per day.
Month-to-month context
On a month-to-month basis, November sales declined from October 2025’s $127.63 million, a decrease of $2.86 million.
October followed a seasonal rebound after September’s dip, while November reflected a return to typical late-fall moderation. Similar patterns have appeared in prior years, with sales often easing in November before strengthening again in December.
A single down month in an otherwise strong year
Despite November’s year-over-year decline, 2025 was broadly successful for Missouri’s marijuana market.
Every other month in 2025 exceeded its corresponding total from 2024. From January through October, Missouri recorded higher sales year over year each month, extending a streak of consistent annual growth that began shortly after the launch of adult-use sales in 2023.
Notable year-over-year gains earlier in 2025 included increases of more than $13 million in January, more than $9 million in May, and more than $6 million in both March and July. Even during slower months such as September, sales still came in higher than the same month the year before.
November stands as the first month in 2025 where total sales fell below the prior year, underscoring how unusual the decline has been within the broader context of the year.
Through November 2025, Missouri recorded $1.385 billion in total legal marijuana sales, including $1.226 billion in adult-use sales and $159.01 million in medical marijuana sales.
Across the first 334 days of the year, the market has averaged approximately $4.15 million in daily marijuana sales. That pace keeps 2025 competitive with 2024’s full-year performance and positions the market near historic highs, even as growth rates have moderated from the rapid expansion seen in the first two years of adult-use sales.
