DHSS roles out “Report A Retailer” form alongside FAQs for unregulated cannabis

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) has released a new set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) and an online reporting form following Governor Michael L. Parson’s Executive Order 24-10, which directs DHSS and the Missouri Department of Public Safety to create regulations for products containing “unregulated psychoactive cannabis products.”

Governor Parson emphasized the urgency of this initiative, noting that numerous Missourians, including children, have been adversely affected by consuming these unregulated products. Hospitalizations and poisonings have been reported, underscoring the need for stringent oversight and public awareness.

The FAQs aim to educate the public and businesses about unregulated psychoactive cannabis products, which include substances like Delta-8 THC, Delta-10 THC, aamong other cannabinoids.

In many locations, these products often lack proper safety standards, leading to significant health risks, particularly for children. In Missouri, to this point, there has been no rule or regulation governing any form of intoxicating hemp products.

However, even with the implementation of the Governor’s executive order, there are still no age restrictions on the sale of intoxicating hemp products to minors.

Reporting unregulated products

Parralelling the launch of the updated FAQs, DHSS has introduced an online form titled “Report a Retailer.”

This form, found at the bottom of the FAQ page, allows individuals to report sightings of unregulated psychoactive cannabis products being sold in retail establishments.

The form is straightforward, asking for essential details such as:

  • Business name and address
  • Whether the facility also sells alcohol
  • Product name and description
  • and accompanying photos
