Greenlight has an appetite for giving
Greenlight, Missouri’s largest dispensary brand, has become synonymous with its community activities and engagement efforts.
From creating the state’s first vendor sales floor experience to working within their localities to find ways to serve and enrich their communities.
For nearly a year, one of the company’s most successful efforts has been a partnership with Appetite 4 Humanity; a Florissant, MO-based charity with a focus on providing social services and food programs to disadvantaged people.
Greenway recently spoke to Greenlight’s Elizbeth Gunkel about the partnership, its successes, and how it came to be.
“Greenlight approached Marvin and his wife, Tina, at Appetite 4 Humanity after discovering there was a need within our own community,” Gunkel explained. “Many children are still experiencing food insecurities in our own backyard, especially while school is not in session. That is something we felt passionately about and knew we had to help.”
In the roughly 10 months since Greenlight and A4H first partnered, the partnership has provided meals for over 3000 residents in the community.
Now, Greenlight and A4H are expanding the initiative.
“Greenlight successfully partnered with Appetite 4 Humanity starting in St Louis last summer with great response from the surrounding community. That partnership is now expanding across Missouri to give back and provide free meals within every region we operate monthly,” Gunkel said.
“Greenlight has always made it a priority to give back to the community that has given so much to us. Seeing food access as an immediate need in the communities we are so proud and honored to be part of, makes it the first step. We all feel strongly that this is a great way to impact the families of those we serve.”
What partnerships or other community initiatives are in the works or ongoing in other areas?
“We are always on the hunt for more ways to get involved within the community,” Gunkel told us. “It can be difficult to find ways to get involved as a dispensary because there is still a little bit of a stigma attached, but that is why we are so excited to partner with programs like Appetite 4 Humanity.”
Patients or businesses interested in helping or becoming involved can find more information about Appetite 4 Humanity online at appetite4humanitycares.org where they can learn how to donate or volunteer.
“Appetite 4 Humanity is always looking for volunteers and donations,” Gunkel explained. “They welcome any extra help they can get, especially this summer as they plan to provide over 300 meals a day in various centers, clubs, churches, and more, through August.”
