Dispensary Recommendations: Medicating for winter woes

Each month Greenway asks a handful of the best dispensary representatives from around the state to give a recommendation for their favorite, or the most popular, product at their dispensary. If you’d like to nominate your favorite budtender or dispensary, drop us a line at hello@mogreenway.com.

This month our budtenders were feeling extra floral, offering a virtual bouquet of their favorite flower.

Bordello Flower | Proper Cannabis

My personal favorite is bursting with terpenes and is a perfect example of ‘never judging a book by its cover.’ I suffer from anxiety/ PTSD and Bordello by Proper provides a nice and mellow body high with just enough head high to quiet the “monkey mind” anxiety can often create.

Literally, every hit is a different flavor with this colorful bud, so I like to call it the wine tasting of cannabis;  and if you let the 14.26% THC fool you like I did, you’ll find this strain creep up on you, IN-Da-COUCH!

Bordello is definitely one I will be suggesting to my patients suffering with anxiety/stress issues and one I plan on keeping in my medicine cabinet!  Come on in and let’s talk some terps!

Grapefruit Durban Flower | Terrapin

This Sativa dominant strain is my favorite choice for flavor with a strong grapefruit profile. It has an amazing taste from the terpene profile.

The effects are what make a perfect Sativa, it is very uplifting and energizing: a high-quality flower choice!

Ghost OG Flower | Illicit Gardens

Ghost OG  is absolutely one of the best strains I’ve come across in Missouri medical marijuana. While I’m always excited to recommend this strain at every opportunity because of its high potency and beautiful buds, our patients are just as excited to take it home. It’s super gassy and citrusy. It also provides a euphoric daze. This flower does not disappoint.

We recommend it for its pain relief and sleep-inducing qualities, too. It’s a favorite with 3rd Street Dispensary patients and Budtenders!

Love Triangle Badder | Proper Cannabis

I would recommend a live resin badder from Proper Cannabis to any new or experienced concentrate user. From the smooth consistency to the potent terpenes, these concentrates help to achieve the desired effects of any given patient.

Being an Indica-lover, my personal favorite badder has been Love Triangle.

A potent cross of Love Affair, LeeRoy TK, and Alien Rock Candy combine to create a sedative and euphoric high, perfect for relaxing after a long day!

Purple Tonic Flower | Illicit Gardens

I’d like to showcase my personal current favorite cultivar here at Terrabis. One that most people will scoff at or quickly look past due to its underwhelming percentages. In my opinion, it is the most “complete” flower we carry at the moment. The tasty and surprisingly effective “Purple Tonic” from Illicit Gardens. It smells of sweet distant grape and pine, crystal-covered, fairly sticky, and burns slow. Excellent cure but not the most pungent on the nose. Broken up it wakes up to a recognizable smell that I could pick out in any blind sniff test. The first draw is unmistakable crisp lemon-lime (think Ramune or a Sprite mixed with extra syrup) with a background of grape candy. Wonderful in either water pipe or dry vape.

Hitting the charts at a non-intimidating 12.6% THC / 8% CBD, I have found this cultivar to be to most consistent and longer-lasting in its medicated durations. Considered a 2:1 cultivar, the CBD comes in clutch with its synergy alongside THC for a well-balanced (both cerebral and also physical) effect that helps my nerve pain, arthritis, appetite, anxiety, and stress alongside a considerably elevated mood. I’m talkative and clear, mental fog dispelled, and the usual ails are nowhere to be found in my mindscape. When I stop and close my eyes, I can feel slow gentle warming waves pulsing over my body like a slo-mo vibration of wellbeing.

Entourage effect is in full swing here. A perfect all-day choice but can bring the weight in higher doses to shut the day down and be lulled off into a deep and restful sleep. The CBD reduces the intensity of the come up as well as stretching out the duration. Meaning I need fewer intake sessions compared to higher THC strains. As higher THC flower’s effects can be intense but short-lived so more frequent sessions are bound to occur. For all of these reasons and more, Purple Tonic is my go-to, in either flower or live resin vape cart as they are both equal in effect, flavor and duration. Can’t go wrong with either!

This flower is a perfect example as to why THC% means next to nothing for me when I’m shopping around. In fact, lower THC amounts usually tell me that there’s more “room” for higher amounts of the other minor cannabinoids. Those are usually what I’m looking for when shopping for a complete full-body medicine.
