Mother Nature still has the final say in destruction
The recent wildfires in California are another stark reminder that despite every detailed project plan, every disaster recovery design, the fact of the matter is that Mother Nature still has the ability to ruin not only tangible products and hurt people but she can also undo years of hard work in the blink of an eye. An Alameda County cannabis farm which had been supporting a family in California for 9 years was reduced to a pile of melted buildings, equipment charred beyond recognition and multi-million dollars worth of cannabis destroyed by raging fires in August. Simultaneously, there are raging fires in Oregon, Colorado, and Washington. It would be easy to say that that kind of thing wouldn’t happen anywhere but the West Coast, because so many Missouri cultivations are indoors.
BUT Missouri and every region of the country for that matter have different environmental and weather-related threats. Missouri and some of our neighboring states have seen floods that ravage homes, buildings, and livelihoods every year. Tornadoes have been known to take out large portions of entire towns in mere minutes. Fires aren’t always initiated outside and even the best laid plans can be obliterated by those elements like weather that we simply have NO control over. We celebrate the miracle that Mother Nature provides in the form of cannabis as medicine and the ability to use it, but like karma – Mother Nature can be fickle. It’s a grim reminder that we have to accept that there are many things we can plan and control to the fullest, but understand that some things simply can’t be predicted or stopped.
