Terpene Profile: Linalool
Linalool is a common terpene found in cannabis varieties, however it is most abundantly found in lavender. Think of an experience you’ve had with lavender. Maybe you’ve had a massage with lavender oil or have walked through a lavender field. What did you feel?
If you’ve interacted with lavender before, you have most likely felt relaxed and calm after your experience. This relaxing and calming energy is a result of linalool. Linalool is the primary constituent found in lavender and it even helps the bees who feed on the flowers of lavender to relax. Here is a snapshot of linalool might affect a cannabis experience:
Aroma. Aroma helps us to identify terpenes when we don’t have lab results. Terpenes are consumed through our olfactory glands before we even inhale or ingest. Therefore, the smell of a variety can affect the experience. It also may contribute to taste.
Linalool’s Aroma: lavender, soapy, sweet, floral
Effects on mood: In cannabis, linalool most likely contributes to a sedative, stress relieving experience and may help to elevate mood, alleviate stress and anxiety and calm both the body and mind. Linalool helps those who might have trouble sleeping due to excessive stress and anxiety. It often creates a lovely relaxing energy.
Most Notable Medicinal Properties: Anti-anxiety, Sedative, Anti-depressant, Immune potentiator, Analgesic, Anti-oxidant
Synergistic Properties: When combined with THCA and CBD, linalool exhibits anticonvulsant efficacy, making it an essential ingredient for cannabis formulations that help to manage seizure disorders. Linalool has also exhibited impact on liver enzymes, therefore linalool may affect the way in which cannabis is processed via oral ingestion.
