Missouri marijuana sales surpass $130 million in August

Missouri’s legal marijuana market held steady in August 2025, recording $130.50 million in combined sales between medical and adult use. Adult use once again made up the overwhelming majority of sales, with $115.73 million, while medical marijuana sales totaled $14.77 million.

Since medical sales began in 2020, Missouri’s marijuana program has now generated nearly $4.42 billion in cumulative revenue at retail.

The daily average for August reached approximately $4.21 million in combined sales. This reflects a slight increase from July’s $129.66 million, which averaged $4.18 million per day, and continues a pattern of consistent consumer demand throughout the summer.

August sales grew modestly over prior year. As has been a theme for all of 2025.

In August 2024, Missouri retailers reported $126.15 million in sales, averaging $4.07 million per day. The year-over-year increase of $4.35 million underscores the market’s stability, with adult use sales continuing to drive growth.

August 2025’s total was the third-highest of the year, trailing only March and May.

Monthly sales have consistently remained above $116 million since the start of the year, with peaks in March, May, and August.

Missouri’s market continues to thrive and show increases as many other states have seen wholesale prices plummet and market instability create gaps.

While Missouri sees significant market compression, the overall market health appears steady.
