Missouri regulators submit revised proposed rules for marijuana regulation

Approaching the August 1 expiration date for the emergency rules for regulating marijuana in Missouri, the Department of Health and Senior Services Division of Cannabis Regulation has submitted a revised draft of the proposed rules to the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR).

Emergency rules are not renewable, as such finalized versions of the proposed rules must be implemented by the August 1 expiration.

The revised proposed rules take into account feedback gained during the public comment period. While many suggestions were taken under advisement, some of the most significant issues for Missouri operators remain despite feedback from community members and operators.

While some changes have been made to the proposed rules,  many of the most controversial changes from the medical marijuana rules remain, including changes to the way companies package marijuana and marijuana products and what constitutes an advertisement.

   

The Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) is currently reviewing the final order of rulemaking, it will be retained by the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules for a thirty-day review period.

Once the thirty-day review period is completed, DCR may file the final order of rulemaking packet they received back from JCAR with Administrative Rules for publication in the Missouri Register.
