Cannabis Safety & Quality appoints Matt Regusci as Technical Director
Founder Tyler Williams Becomes CEO of ASI, Announces New Leadership for CSQ
CSQ, a company setting reliable cannabis safety standards that help the industry provide clean consumer products, just announced a new Technical Director. Long-time food safety entrepreneur Matt Regusci is set to take over for Tyler Williams, Founder and former Chief Technical Officer of CSQ, to continue certifying the safety and quality of cannabis and hemp products.
CSQ is the first cannabis certification program to meet GFSI Benchmarking Requirements (set to be benchmarked in 2023) in addition to ISO Requirements and regulatory requirements from seed to sale. Since launching CSQ in 2020, Tyler Williams helped over 100 cannabis facilities across the U.S. improve the safety & quality of their products, including MSO’s like Curaleaf and Trulieve.
Tyler worked with various industry stakeholders and conducted sample audits on several cannabis cultivators and manufacturers to create CSQ. Despite his passion for safeguarding the future cannabis industry, today marks Williams’ return to his food safety roots as he takes over as the CEO of ASI, a Certification Body of CSQ. Williams will continue to play a role as a member of CSQ’s Technical Advisory Committee, but his main focus will be leading the expansion of ASI and Kiwa in the Food, Feed & Farm sector in North America. ASI’s recent move to become a part of Kiwa Group, a global Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) company brings tremendous promise for the international expansion of CSQ, gaining the certifications’ acceptance in newly legalized cannabis countries.
Matt Regusci is stepping in to lead CSQ’s expansion within the U.S. and beyond. Regusci co-founded Azzule, an online compliance supply chain data management company, which is the parent company of PrimusGFS, a GFSI food safety standard. After Azzule, Regusci became an owner at WQS, a certification body that does thousands of audits annually across the Western Hemisphere. Regusci later stepped in as the Director of Growth and Public Relations at ASI, where he assisted in preparing and managing ASI’s recent merger with Kiwa Group.
“Matt has played a critical role in the development of CSQ as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee since it all began. While I’ll always be involved in CSQ, I’m confident that with Matt’s extensive auditing background and expertise in compliance, I trust that he’ll quickly gain respect among key industry players who could use his guidance,” said Williams.
