Latitude Dispensary crosses cannabis and skate culture with Seven10 Skate at Lake of the Ozarks
There has long been a connection between the skater community and cannabis. In light of this connection, Latitude Dispensary and co-sponsor Proper Cannabis are hosting Missouri’s first cannabis-skateboarding crossover event in Lake Ozark on 7/10. The Seven10 Skate event will kick off at 12 pm with host and professional skater Tyreek Morrison and will showcase some of Missouri’s best amateur skaters, and will conclude at 4 pm.
Latitude dispensary opened in June of 2021 and has been happy to serve the Lake Ozark area. Carrying brands such as Proper, Latitude has made a splash in the community, providing knowledgeable assistance to patients, as well as, quality medicine. For the staff, many of whom are skaters themselves, a crossover event was a no-brainer. The Latitude team believed that the local skate community at the Lake needed an event to spark more interest and gain support in making improvements to the local scene. With the assistance of Proper, Latitude and its team put their plan into action sparking Seven10 Skate.
The event will mark an exclusive Proper Hash Rosin drop that can only be found at Latitude. To commemorate the exclusive drop, Latitude will have many Proper hash rosin products available at a discounted price.
The half-pipe used for the competition is being designed and built by Sk8 Liborious, a group from St. Louis, known for converting St. Liborius church into an iconic skate park. The half pipe will serve the community beyond the event, as it is poised to be donated to the local skate park.
The donation of the ramp isn’t the only way the event organizers plan to help the local skate community. Earnings from ticket sales of the event will also be donated to the local community to help take care of and nurture the growth of the sport.
When asked about future plans Dmitri Brown, of Latitude Dispensary, said, “This will be Missouri’s first cannabis-skateboarding crossover and we are hoping that this is the start of something bigger. Maybe, one day, a series of events all over the state!” He described the idea as “a connected skate competition series, where week-in and week-out, people can compete in every major area of the state.”
For anyone planning to attend Sunday’s event, the staff at Latitude Dispensary has planned a pre-event party to be held at 9 pm on Saturday, July 9, at Marty Byrde’s Bar and Grill. Morrison will serve as guest DJ for the pre-event party.
