Reviewing the G Pen Elite II
One of my favorite things about the cannabis industry is the innovation that is being driven by today’s cannabis enthusiasts and patients to be occurring on a regular basis – and not just the kind that people have always referred to as part of a “stoner” stereotype – apple pipes anyone?
If you’ve been a cannabis consumer, it’s possible you’ve tried multiple methods of consumption and a plethora of gadgets and dry herb vapes seem to be growing in popularity – especially among the demographic of those who want the effects of smoking, without the harms of combustion. Enter a few products you might be familiar with – the Volcano vaporizer – a great product, but not exactly discrete, and limited to those with a disposable income that are comfortable with the price tag to own one; the DynaVap – simple in its design, but a favorite among those who have used them and swear by them.
The folks at GPen have played in this space for quite some time, alongside the Davinci lines, the Arizer, and Dip Devices. While the GPen Elite has enjoyed great success among dry vapers, their latest version, the GPen Elite II takes the best attributes of a dry vape – smooth flavor, easy use, and the ability to remove already vaped bud (AVB) to use in its entirety after vaping in other ways.
Its predecessor, the GPen Elite, had pros and cons among users, and this new interaction has solved for many of these. Both the original and the new version feature a sizable Ceramic Herb Chamber which is a huge part of what makes both models a hit with connoisseurs. At the time the Elite came out, it boasted the largest ceramic chamber to be the largest available in any of the portable vapes. With a capacity of almost 0.75 g you can pack a lot in this one. The beauty is the flexibility that lets someone like me, who doesn’t use large amounts of flower at one time, pack it loosely with as little a 0.25 g and still enjoy the benefits and ease of use.
The old version couldn’t boast a replaceable battery, but the new Elite II has a USB-C charger that lasts approximately 60 minutes on a full charge and is rechargeable multiple times during the life cycle of the device. Like the original, the stylish and smart design makes the Elite II a pleasure to use and feels substantial in terms of quality and reliability upon removal from the box. Other improvements over the original? On-board picking tool, a great storage bag for on-the-go, and the ease of using different temperatures all combine to make this a great choice for those who use dry vape as their consumption method of choice. With an MSRP of around $249.99, this piece is an investment, but for those who prefer to dry vape often, I’m comfortable happily recommending it for checking all the boxes!
