Greenway Best of the Industry: Readers Choice 2022
Each year Greenway asks readers to submit nominations for those leaders, companies, brands, products, and businesses they have deemed to be the Best of the Industry. The top nominees for each category are selected to be voted on by readers. Awards oversight is provided by a committee of industry and advocacy professionals who contribute in a variety of ways. A nomination or win showcases a company or individual as an industry leader in Missouri’s cannabis space.
In 2021, Greenway’s annual awards recognizing the best of the cannabis industry in Missouri grew and changed. The world, and the industry, had been reshaped in the time since March of 2020. Voters selected winners in a new market with new regulators in a new economic climate.
In March 2021, Over 5,000 ballots were cast for winners, but the awards ceremony was pushed back and winners wouldn’t be announced until August of 2021. In the time between the original voting period and the announcement Missouri’s market blossomed. Entering March of 2021 there were 15 cultivation 4 manufacturing and 44 dispensary licenses approved for operation. The program had registered just under $17 million in retail revenue.
When voting ended in January 2022 for this year’s nominees, Missouri’s medical marijuana program had amassed over $215 million in sales. The number of businesses had skyrocketed with 180 dispensaries, 58 manufacturing licenses, and 41 cultivation licenses approved to operate. That growth dictated another expansion of Greenway’s Best of the Industry awards to include many more consumer-centric and product-specific categories. Those new categories reflect excellence in consumer services, appeal, and consumer satisfaction.
This year, over 10,000 votes were cast to determine the Best of the Industry for 2022. Throughout the week Greenway will feature profiles and Q&As with the 2022 winners, follow along and learn about the individuals and companies driving the success of medical marijuana and cannabis in Missouri.
