Lake of the Ozarks welcomes new medical cannabis dispensary

A new medical cannabis dispensary near Lake of the Ozarks has opened its doors in advance of the July Fourth holiday weekend.

A multi-day grand opening celebration at Heya Wellness’ Eldon location, 1812 U.S. Highway 54, continues Friday, noon to 6 p.m., with live music, a DJ, games, giveaways and more. Additional information, including store directions and available product lines, can be found at http://heyawellness.com.

In the St. Louis region, Heya recently opened dispensaries in St. Peters’ and St. Ann, with a grand opening celebration scheduled for Saturday at the flagship St. Ann location at 10417-A St. Charles Rock Rd.

The vertically integrated company also won state licenses for dispensaries in Park Hills, which opens later this month; and Kirksville, which is set to open Labor Day weekend.

Heya also owns a St. Ann cultivation center and a trio of infused-product manufacturing operations in St. Ann, Kirksville and Macon County that will supply medical cannabis edibles, concentrates, topicals and vape pens to retailers across the state.

More than 120,000 Missouri patients have been approved as medical marijuana cardholders by the state Department of Health and Senior Services. Medical cannabis sales in Missouri include an additional 4% sales tax, with the proceeds dedicated toward veterans’ health and care services.

The department has licensed 349 facilities across the state to cultivate, manufacture, test and dispense medical marijuana. The medical marijuana program, which was approved by 66% of Missouri voters on the November 2018 ballot, has already generated nearly $54 million in tax revenue to the state of Missouri through May.
